Bed bugs in Paris & Île-de-France — SOS 4D Paris

Professional treatment for bed bugs in Île-de-France: canine detection, 100% ecological heat treatment or chemical treatment. Guaranteed results.

Étape 1

Our treatments against bed bugs

Bed bugs are resistant to almost all commercial products. Our protocols combine precise diagnosis (visual + canine) and a choice between heat treatment (without products) or residual chemical treatment based on TP18 biocidal insecticides authorized by ANSES, with a follow-up visit upon the client's request at 14 and 28 days to break the egg → larva → adult cycle.

Canine detection (sniffer dog)

Inspection by a specially trained dog capable of locating eggs and adults even in very small quantities with > 95% reliability. Essential before and after treatment to confirm eradication.

Residual chemical treatment (TP18)

Spraying of TP18 biocidal insecticides authorized by ANSES (pyrethroids + IGR growth regulators) with a residual effect of 6 to 12 weeks. Sessions spaced 14 days apart to break the reproduction cycle.

Dry steam treatment (180°C)

Professional dry steam applied locally on mattresses, bed bases, skirting boards, and seams. Kills by thermal shock without moisturizing. Coupled with chemical treatment for severe infestations.

Heat treatment > 55°C

Controlled elevation of the room temperature between 55 and 60°C for 6 to 10 hours via professional heating panels. Kills eggs, larvae, and adults in a single intervention. 100% ecological, without any chemical products. Ideal for families, children, pets.

Cryogenics (CO₂ / liquid nitrogen)

Projection of carbon dioxide snow at -78°C on sensitive areas (books, electronic devices, valuables) that cannot withstand heat or insecticide. Immediate action, no residue.

Étape 2

Habitat and behaviour of bed bugs

The bed bug (Cimex lectularius) is a strictly nocturnal hematophagous insect that lives hidden in the immediate vicinity of a sleeping human: mattress seams, slats and corners of the bed base, bed frame and headboard, nearby skirting boards and sockets, bedside furniture, and sometimes behind peeling wallpaper or pictures hung on the wall. Brown, flat, and the size of an apple pip, it bites between 3 am and 5 am then retreats to digest for 5 to 10 days. A female lays 5 to 15 eggs per day for several months, and the species can survive fasting for over a year, which explains why a vacant room remains contaminated upon your return.

Étape 3

What causes an infestation?

Contrary to popular belief, bed bugs have no link to a lack of hygiene. Contamination always occurs through passive transport: returning from a trip (hotel, seasonal rental, night train, long-haul flight), buying or recovering second-hand furniture (mattress, sofa, armchair, antique painting), suitcases stored in a shared closet, clothes bought in thrift stores, or books or boxes coming from an infested home. In apartment buildings, the spread then occurs through technical shafts, common skirting boards, and electrical conduits, which quickly turns an isolated focus into an infestation of several neighboring apartments if the treatment is not extended to the stairwell.

Étape 4

How do you recognise an infestation?

The first warning sign appears on the skin upon waking: aligned bites, often in series of three, accompanied by itching. When getting up, the sheets show tiny black spots (droppings) and sometimes a few traces of dried blood. By lifting the mattress and bed base seams and the headboard, one discovers whitish eggs glued in place and, for an established infestation, a characteristic sweet nutty smell that does not disappear despite cleaning. Early detection remains the best assurance of a short treatment.

Étape 6

Where do they hide?

Bed bugs always retreat a few meters from their source of a meal, which is the bed. Our visual and canine inspections focus primarily on the mattress and bed base seams, the headboard and its frame, nearby skirting boards and electrical sockets, bedside furniture, and then paintings, frames, and peeling wallpaper. In severe infestations, they also colonize curtains and clothes stored nearby.

Étape 7

Health and property risks

Bed bugs do not transmit known infectious diseases, but their health and psychological impact is heavy: intense itching, skin superinfections from scratching, anxiety, chronic insomnia, and social isolation. In an apartment building, the infestation spreads rapidly to neighboring units through technical shafts and skirting boards, exposing the landlord to costly collective treatment and, in some cases, to tenancy disputes regarding decent housing.

Étape 10

How can infestations be prevented?

After every trip, systematic inspection of luggage, immediate laundering of textiles at 60°C, and storing suitcases outside the bedroom considerably limit the risk of introduction. On a daily basis, regular vacuuming under the bed and along skirting boards, vigilance when purchasing second-hand furniture, and rapid diagnosis at the slightest doubt allow you to act before a visible infestation sets in.
